Using Design To revitalize a vintage logo
Take elements from a vintage logo from a construction company and make it into a modern logo for a media company.
When photographer/film maker and friend Roman Sotelo decided he was going to start his own media company he contacted Elska to help develop his new branding. When asked what look he wanted to achieve Roman pulled up an image of a vintage logo from the mid 1970's. He told the team that the logo was from his parents construction company back in the Philippines and he wanted to pay homage to his parents by having his new logo be heavily influenced by theirs. He left Elska with the job of modernizing an old classic.
The original logo was simple yet elegant. It was composed of a S written in a vintage style serifed font surrounded by a yellow triangle.
The new logo uses two main elements from the original the font and the triangle. The font we used is a modernized version of the original font. It has the same spirit as the original font with a more modern look. As for the triangle we replaced the letter A with a triangle that forms a letter A in the negative space.
